THAILAND LAB 2012: Strengthening Laboratory and Scientific Equipment Market in Asia



Thailand Lab 2012 – the 2nd comprehensive Asia's exhibition and
conference on laboratory, scientific, equipment and technology aims to
advance Lab industry in Asia with global innovations

ASEAN Community and ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) are going to be fully
operated in 2015. This collaboration presents both opportunities and threats depending on
how well of preparation and adaptation that each sector is going to take into account – both
public and private sectors. In terms of laboratory and scientific equipment market in
Southeast Asia, top importers in laboratory equipment market in 2011 are Singapore,
Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines and Indonesia, respectively. Overall imported scientific
equipment value is around USD 330 million per year. The market growth is about 15% per
annum. In this regard, it is a great opportunity for traders and businessmen in this sector to
take advantage of the AEC as a stepping stone to strengthen and extend this market into
ASEAN and Asia.

Myanmar has been chosen as the very first place to run roadshows on Thailand Lab 2012.
This is because of sound possibility after the recent openness of the country.

Mr. Udom Chanasit, Vice President, Science and Technology Trade Association (STTA),
said that science education is the basics of the country development and laboratory
equipment can be starting point of the development of many industries. STTA, consisting
of more than 140 companies, is shaping the business cooperation with Myanmar. Thailand
Lab 2012 Networking Night is auspicious occasion for the association to discuss and learn
from each other.

Mr. Teerayuth Leelakajornkij, Project Director, VNU Exhibitions Asia Pacific, said that
objective of the networking night is to promote the relationship between laboratory related
organizations between Myanmar and Thailand. We would like to invite friends from
Myanmar to visit Thailand Lab which laboratory innovation in Asia would be exhibited.
Myanmar and Thailand shares the same geographical locations, we could then share the
growth of the industry together. At the same occasion, we also plan to invite our friends
from Cambodia, Lao and Vietnam to discuss scientific and laboratory issues in Thailand
Lab 2012 too.

Thailand Lab 2012 is the 2nd edition comprehensive laboratory exhibition and conference
organized during 26-28 September 2012 at BITEC, Bangkok. It will be a good platform for
trade opportunity and knowledge sharing between the personnel of the two countries. We
have exhibitors and visitors from many countries such as British, Japan, India, Indonesia,
Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Vietnam, etc. Apart from the intensive and
comprehensive conference run in a parallel, the exhibition includes HealthLab, FoodLab,
BioLab, EnviLab, ChemLab and EnergyLab , added Teerayuth

Ms. Supawan Teerarat Exhibitions Director, Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau
(TCEB) revealed that TCEB has already planned strategically in 2012 to focus on building
Thailand as a regional hub for meetings, exhibitions and conferences by closely mobilizing
marketing campaign. Besides, TCEB also aims to extend its target groups to cover
qualified buyers in countries of ASEAN+6, BIMSTEC and CLMV and also to increase the
numbers of event operators, exhibitors and visitors coming to Thailand as well as incentive
programs like 100 A-Head is to attract group visitors from ASEAN plus six countries and
VIP Fast Track at Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi airport. These incentives are aimed to boost
international trade visitors to experience trade shows in Thailand as ASEAN hub platform.

Thailand Lab 2012, which will be taken place at BITEC, Bangkok, on 26-28 September
2012, is organized by VNU Exhibitions Asia Pacific, together with the Science and
Technology Trade Association. Its main goals are to evaluate latest instrumentation and its
product demonstration, to entire value-added chain for laboratory equipment and services,
to provide trade opportunity for laboratory equipment industry in Thailand and in Asia, and
to be part of the promoting MICE industry to Thailand. The event will be organized under
the theme of 'Lab Innovation … to the Lab industry in Asia', which being comprised of
exhibition, workshop, conference and product demonstration and activities. There will be
six main features; HealthLab, FoodLab, BioLab, EnviLab, ChemLab and EnergyLab, being
arranged in the same venue.

Thailand Lab this year in 2012 is sure to be a great platform to develop more international
image of the laboratory equipment market in Asia by aiming to increase more overseas
exhibitors and visitors, expanding profiles of both groups and cooperating more with
related associations and organizations.
